Baby Dear
Only two little eyes of blue
matching the skies in their golden hue.
Only a wee head of downy gold.
Precious more far than wealth untold.
Sweet little lips, so soft and so tender.
Dear little limbs, so rounded yet slender.
God must have fashioned thee, Bundle of Love,
And dropped thee to earth from his gardens above.
Watch the wee fingers seek to entwine,
Round the more sturdy members of mine,
Why, the whole of my being thrills at the touch,
Of your velvety skin, Oh! I love you so much,
That my heart swells and throbs as I gaze on your face,
Great God, in thy power, give me strength and grace,
To muse this young life, and to train it for thee,
She is thy child, though my child, thou gavest her to be,
Watch o'er her, my father, Let Thy Love Dine,
Bless, keep and protect this wee girlie of mine.
Dianna Izett.
